Happy New Year!

I'm sure that those of you who live here can relate to this picture especially lately! I thought the colors were beautiful and this photographer has a lovely eye for composition!
I'm so excited to read about the charming Lexington store, Weekends is branching out to Port Huron! This little city just seems poised for possibilities and for sure, Weekends will bring a little of that Lexington feeling with them!
Somethings happening folks...let's hope it's marvelous! It so could be!

The Season of Michigan Color

Today was a wonderful warm fall day! The smell!...ahhh. The sky...soo blue. The sound of singing birds is replaced with a slow sounding insect buzz. I'm already looking forward to next spring! I like to get OUTside.
I hope you enjoy some snippets of our lovely fall colors!

Look for Treasure Right Here!

I thought it would be a great first post to share some hard to see from the living room chair treasures in our city with you.

  • First I dropped my daughters off at the BRAND NEW YMCA...how absolutely beautiful it is! It felt a little like plugging into my community, always a good thing I think.

  • Second, I had a meeting with Maureen Scallen from Studio 1219 and what a very busy lady she is! So many wonderful ideas and such a true passion to bring a good thing to this area! While there, I met David Stoneburg, he called himself the transplant of his friends due to he wasn't raised here and how fascinating the great ships in the river are. You know...there is ALWAYS something that wakes up in my mind when someone from somewhere else reminds me how to SEE all that we have around us! Anyway...this group at Studio 1219 really are motivated and that's certainly what I felt as I left. I was greatly inspired!

  • Third, My husband and I had our first meal at the Black River Cafe...OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! Not only was it fabulous tasting it is beautifully arranged for you! Just like the cover of Bon Appetite Magazine or the like. If you haven't been there go!
If you like spicy I had the Blackened Chicken Kabobs and my husband had a local favorite, Pickerel. I wish I had my camera so I could have shared visually with you what this meal looked like! I will take it next time.

I better run for now but I just want to share some of my findings about this city with you. A city filled with endless possibilities! Really...not many places have this sort of setting do they now...but we do :)

I have chirped for a while about people getting a vision...and you want to know something I'm finding? There are many here with the same vision. I hope we all find each other and work together to realize the staggering potential of a vibrant community! This community...the Blue Water City of Port Huron!
